64.35 oz Dated 1892, Chicago from the World’s Columbian Exposition
This is an incredible, one-of-a-kind antique poured silver bar that was presented to well-known Chicago architecht, William Harlev. Harlev and his son were responsible for constructing several buildings during the 1892-3 Columbian Exposition in Chicago, including the Illinois building and Montana building, for which this bar indicates.
This bar was presented to Harlev and son as a token of their appreciation by the Montana Worlds Fair Commissioners “as a token their appreciation of their efficiency in building the State of Montana Building”. The bar weighs 64.35 troy ounces. It is not entirely clear who the silver pourer was, but the stamping ‘Chicago Works’ is visible.
