CSA – Confederate States of America

$32.65 1863 Confederate States of America Georgia Gold – T & Co

Very little is known about this gold ingot. Since it was donated through Josiah K. Lilly Jr. to the Smithsonian Institution and since most of his items came through John J. Ford, he is presumed to have a hand in this somehow as well. This is the only known example at this time.

CSA presumably stands for Confederate States of America

T & CO – unknown

1863 – period during the Civil War

However, this ingot is assumed to be made some time in the 1960’s.

Measures: 2.03 cm x 3.08 cm x .46 cm; 13/16 in x 1 7/32 in x 3/16 in
